Heather Mann, a Literacy and Instructional Coach at West Contra Unified School District (CA), has been named the Open Up Resources EL Education K–8 Language Arts Teacher of the Month for January.
Mann’s work with EL Education K–8 Language Arts makes her one of the most innovative teachers in the country. The EL Education K–8 Language Arts curriculum inspires a new way of teaching language arts by engaging students through compelling, real-world content to build equitable and inclusive learning opportunities.
Mann was a valued member of the Open Up Resources annual HIVE conference in 2020 making connections with other teachers around the country. Although the last year has been challenging both personally and professionally for Mann, she has continued to show resiliency and dedication to providing support for teachers and high-quality literacy instruction for all.
Community Coach, Justin Endicott shared “I have never seen someone exhibit such passion for their students as Heather. She will pour her whole heart and soul into anything she feels is what they need. Additionally, Heather is a resource to all teachers. She houses thousands of resources for all grade levels and will be the first to offer them freely to any teacher in need.”
